Proud to share that the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) awarded CSU Energy Institute's Methane Emissions Technology Evaluation Center (METEC) $25 million, highlighting the center as one of the most active researchorganizations inthe world in this space. Over the next five years the funding will be used to modernize testing equipment and further support research collaborations between industry and academia working to reduce methane leaks during production of natural gas. Daniel Zimmerle, director of the center, told CBS News, “there is a tremendous need in the industry right now for support in method development and data collection to improve performance. This award from the DOE speaks to that need as well as our mission as a center directly."https://lnkd.in/gN6783rB

Today, I am thrilled to provide an announcement about our CSU Athletics leadership with the appointments of John Weber as Director of Athletics and Scott Sidwell as Deputy Athletic Director and Chief Operating Officer. In the short time as interim Athletic Director, John has helped secure an agreement to retain CSU Men's Basketball Coach Niko Medved, expanded revenue-generation opportunities for the department and built strong connections with Fort Collins and along the Front Range. As part of his focus on building a strong leadership team, John appointed a veteran deputy in Scott Sidwell who comes to Colorado State University with experience at some of the nation’s top athletic programs, including Penn State University, Syracuse University, University of San Francisco and Tulane University. Excited for a great future for CSU Athletics in the evolving landscape of collegiate sports! Congrats, John! And welcome to CSU, Scott! Go Rams!https://col.st/iV5Ue

Trips across Colorado to visit our Agricultural Experiment Stations and Engagement and Extension locations are an absolute highlight of my job. Yesterday, at the Eastern Colorado Research Center (ECRC) outside of Akron, this summer's Colorado Agricultural Systems cohort shared their projects in agriculture biology and soil and crop sciences. At lunch, the ECRC staff provided a cattle research overview and we celebrated Doug Couch's 25th anniversary at CSU, his son Austin's 10th anniversary and Jan Leach's birthday! We continued the trip with a visit to the Northeast Regional Engagement Center (NREC) in Sterling for a large group discussion with representatives from across the region. Participants included NREC staff; Logan, Lincoln, Washington and Morgan County Extension staff; and community members from the Sterling Family Resource Center, Logan County Chamber of Commerce, Sedgewick County Health, Centennial Mental Health and Northeastern Junior College. I learned how NREC is supporting the region through programs like the 2+2 partnerships with Northeastern Junior College, the Aging Mastery Program, HOLA, Take Note and many others. In the evening, we connected with amazing CSU alumni and community leaders over dinner at the Sky Ranch Golf Club. A sincere thank you to everyone who made this visit happen. Your commitment is foundational to CSU's strong presence in northeastern Colorado!

What a beautiful evening at the Mizel Institute annual event honoring Peyton Manning! I also watched with pride as CSU Football own Joel Dreessen took the stage to honor his friend and fellow Bronco.
