The Cybianian Defense Force, or simply CDF, are the main armed forces of the Cybianian Empire. It is a multispecies group of warriors comprised of Dazoky, Li and a small group of Civatrons, all of which had been shaped by the War for Chandras and the Li Exodus. Since then, all member races within the CDF are now are loyal to the Cybianian Empire.

History[]

Creation[]

During the devastating Chandras Upheaval, the Dazoky managed to allow the Li to flee from their old galaxy to Eracleya. Since then they lived as close neighbors and allies, enjoying a time of reconciliation and deeper understanding. While the following months were peaceful, it also was an opportunity for all three species' to consider a fully fledged, official alliance, as well as the Li fearing the possibility of retaliation from either their Combine's loyalist faction or their previous Overlords. As such, the Cybianian Defense Force was born: an initially hasty but focused amalgamation of present forces, which supplanted and absorbed the previously employed Wings of Cybia military, as well as gathering the small stranded Civatron group and other warriors the Li had at hand right then and there under a common goal: to protect their region of space and keep it safe from threats.

Doctrine[]

At the core of the CDF’s military doctrine is its reliance on a volunteer force. This approach ensures that all personnel are highly motivated and dedicated to the defense of the empire. Volunteers undergo rigorous training programs designed to enhance their combat readiness and adaptability, enabling them to effectively respond to a wide range of threats. The volunteer nature of the CDF also promotes a strong sense of camaraderie and collective responsibility among its members, fostering a resilient and cohesive fighting force while allowing said warriors to form their own lives as citizens of the Empire.

In addition to its volunteer corps, the CDF maintains a number of elite units specifically designated for critical situations and high-stakes operations. These elite units are composed of warriors such as the Defenders or the Cataphracts. In their case. they undergo specialized training and are equipped with advanced weaponry and technology, ensuring their readiness for rapid deployment in emergencies. These elite units play a pivotal role in executing strategic missions, conducting covert operations, and providing a decisive edge in combat scenarios.

While the primary mission of the CDF is the defense of the Cybianian Empire, it also engages in peacekeeping and humanitarian efforts within and beyond its borders, as it was the most prominent case of the Chandras Upheaval, where Dazoky forces contributed to the Li exodus and their eventual escape from destruction at the hands of their enemies. The force is committed to maintaining stability and promoting peace in the region, often collaborating with allied forces and participating in joint operations to address regional conflicts and crises.

Overall, the Cybianian Defense Force embodies the principles of unity, adaptability, and strategic excellence, ensuring the continued security and prosperity of the Cybianian Empire.

Warrior types[]

Royal Guard[]

These are the most common and most tried-and-true types of warriors employed by the Cybianians, sharing their position with the Warden as the primary warriors of the previous Wings of Cybia military group. Armed with standard twin energy-blades (updated with the Civatron's help), psi-shields and basic yet sturdy armor, these warriors are adept at raw melee combat. Combined with their size and naturally high endurance, the Royal Guards strive to fight for free and safe worlds, worlds that would eventually not require their services anymore.

Myrmidon[]

The most recent addition to the Cybianian Empire's armed forces, these jack-of-all-trades warriors were envisioned by the remnants of the Li Combine after joining the Cybianians to aid the Royal Guards and all other forces with their multipurpose arsenal, comprised of the usual energy-blade, but also a hard-light shield and a powerful energy rifle. The Myrmidons are a standing army in the military and many Li fill auxiliary roles to protect or maintain security and order across the many cities in the Empire.

Defender[]

These warriors were birthed from a joint collaboration between the Cybianian School of Growth and some young Dazoky native to Li Prime. Armed with strong psionic powers and three large floating shields, made of a combination of a strong inner phisical layer and a hard-light projector on the outer side, these hardy warriors' main purpose is to protect, defend and use their herbal knowledge to provide quick medical assistance, before the wounded get transfered away from the battlefield, to receive proper treatment. Some would even say that the Defenders are a phisical representation of the CDF's purpose.

Warden[]

Although usually not employed on the battlefield itself, the female Warden served as medics, teachers and alchemists since the creation of the Cybianian School of Growth, tending to the sick and injured, and maintaining order among both the armed ranks and the civilian population. Wise, kind and forthcoming, in times of peace these warriors will give advice and lend a hand with almost any problem.

Cataphract[]

Already widely known for their recognizable presence and unmatched psionic potential across most of the Gigaquadrant, this small groups of stranded Civatrons led by Sentinel Jrav, while functionally almost identical to the Royal Guards, are rightfully considered elite warriors amongst the Cybianian Defense Force. They are respected and honored by everyone within all parts of cybianian society, yet their presence in Eracleya is changing them in ways they themselves have yet to understand fully.

Naturewalker[]

Indeed the oldest and most occult types of warriors, the Naturewalkers were originally invented to bring nothing but death and destruction by evil Dazok minds in times past. In the hands of the Cybianians however, these towering sentinels became so much more. While they may appear robotic at first glance, Naturewalkers are indeed living creatures grown from specific, alchemically mutated trees and as such they still need food and water to survive. They can either be fed by their large mouth, or by burrowing their lower section into the ground and feed by their natural way of finding water with extendable roots and photosynthesis. In times of peace their immense size allows them to transport heavy materials of varying types to elevated places, while in times of war their thermal ion-beam cannons and armor-penetrating missles give unsettling glimpses into the reason they had originally been created for. Even though nowadays they are more wide-spread, far more calm and, in some ways, less intimidating, there's one thing these Naturewalkers have in common with their original version: few opponents have seen them in action on the battlefield and lived to tell the tale.
