SUMMARY
- While Grant Gustin's The Flash is a fan-favorite DC show, fans hated many things about the series.
- There were a few annoying lines that fans found extremely silly, including "We're the Flash" from Iris, but another repetitive line was almost unbearable for fans.
- Fans felt that Cecile Horton saying the emotions out loud with her empathic powers was the most annoying thing to hear.
Grant Gustin’s The Flash ran for nine seasons before the creators decided to end the show for good. While the series is considered to be one of the best of its kind, fans couldn’t help but notice how some character lines often felt very cheesy. When it was put to discussion what the most annoying line was, fans could easily come to an agreement.
The show was presented in a lighter, whimsical tone that would often come across as overly simplistic and almost silly. However, the comedic lines in the show weren’t the most annoying for fans. It was often the serious moments that produced the worst dialogue.
Fans Of Grant Gustin’s The Flash Won’t Forgive The Show For One Unbearable Line
Candice Patton was already having a hard time on the show due to the racist tirades against her from comic book fans. The writers didn’t make the situation any better for her, writing some of the cheesiest lines for the character. When the most annoying line in the series was discussed, one fan shared that it was Iris telling Barry, “You’re not the Flash, We’re the Flash.”

While some fans found this line extremely silly and annoying, other fans felt that there was another line more unbearable than the ‘We’re the Flash’ line. Reddit user u/Educational-Tea-6572 mentioned one line that came from another character in the series, Cecile Horton. The Redditor shared:

Horton, played by Danielle Nicolet, is a member of team Flash and the fiancée of Joe West. She gained the power of telepathy and empathy in the show. She basically feels people’s emotions. However, fans felt that every time the character said the “emotion” out loud, it was annoying to watch since the emotions were often too obvious.
One Redditor shared, “You didn’t need to be an empath, because they were actually acting and portraying the emotions visibly.” Another fan comment shared that Cecile’s lines almost belittled the actors who were actually acting out the emotions perfectly. Some of the fan comments read:

However, it was more of a writer problem than an actor problem. Cecile Horton had nothing to offer to the storyline in the later seasons other than her relationship with Joe and her empathic powers.
Will Grant Gustin Return As The Flash In James Gunn’s DCU?
James Gunn has a major task ahead of him when choosing the actor to play the Flash. Even Zack Snyder couldn’t match up to this CW version of the character. Grant Gustin’s role lasted nine seasons from 2014-2023, a long time for even a non-DC fan to eventually view him as synonymous with the Flash.

Gustin went through 16 hours of tiring work per shoot day when working on The Flash. He revealed to Men’s Health that he was relieved at some level that the show was over after a decade. However, Gustin shared that he is still interested in returning to the role, provided James Gunn wants him to do so. He shared with Men’s Health:
Earlier this year, reports emerged that Gustin and Gunn had shared DMs. Gustin expanded on his conversation with the DC co-CEO, sharing that it was he who texted the director and said to him that he was excited to see what Gunn had planned for DCU. In his return texts, Gunn appreciated the actor’s talent and shared that he’d love to work with him someday. Gustin shared:
Gunn is currently working on David Corenswet’s Superman and is yet to announce many of the DC’s main superhero casting, including Batman.
The Flash series is currently available to watch on Netflix.
