De Ronde VenenAre you going out with Jan (61)?HandjehelpenJan (61) is a friendly man who had a brain hemorrhage. This left him with non-congenital brain damage and is therefore wheelchair-bound. A lot has changed in his life since then, but he still remains positive. Jan was very active and sporty, but now tries to spend his life in other ways. Fortunately, he has a lot of support from his children, girlfriend and acquaintances. He is looking for a buddy who can go shopping with him or go to the hairdresser, for example. This is not convenient alone with a mobility scooter or wheelchair, but together it is possible. Will you help Jan regain even more of his freedom? We'd love to hear from you.About volunteering at HandjehelpenAt Handjehelpen you will find volunteer work that suits you. We always look for a suitable match based on your wishes and availability. We have a wide range of services, from 'simple' volunteer work to assistance that requires specific knowledge or experience. The help is given one on one. This means that you become a buddy of one person seeking help, who you visit in his or her home or with whom you do fun things together. Our volunteer work is aimed at social contact for a longer period. Our volunteers say that volunteering really makes them feel good and that they learn new things. They rate Handjehelpen with an 8.3!Regularly

Amstelveen, Haarlemmermeer, Uithoorn, AalsmeerDo you have a spare seat at the table?Roads TafelgastenIn the regions of Amstelland and Haarlemmermeer we are looking for enthusiastic and socially-minded volunteers who would like to cook for one or more participants and eat with them. Our participants are people who experience psychological vulnerability and who may feel lonely as a result or who have become socially isolated for other reasons. They have few social contacts, while they would like to have them. Because it is not possible or difficult to make new contacts, it feels as if they are somewhat outside society. The goal of Roads Table guests is to make these people feel 'welcome' with volunteers and to let them eat together, so that they experience some social distraction again. Eating together, having time and interest for each other and feeling welcome is the approach of the project. On the basis of an extensive intake interview, a volunteer is linked to one or more participants. The size of the group is determined in consultation. Once a month, the dining group meets at the volunteer's home to eat. This can be done in the afternoon or evening. The volunteer and the participant(s) enter into a contract for one year.Regularly
AmstelveenWho wants to walk/chat with this woman (65)?Roads MaatjesprojectWe are looking for a buddy for a sweet sixty-five year old woman from Amstelveen. The woman struggles with depressive feelings and misses friendly one-on-one contact. She has adult children, on whom she does not want to rely too much. Her circle of friends is small and her connections have busy lives themselves, so they don't often have time for her. The woman has previously been linked to a buddy. From this she has the experience that contact with friends really benefits her and that she can experience fun moments with a buddy. She hopes that she will be matched with a buddy again. She thinks it would be fun to take a walk together or have a coffee somewhere and chat in the meantime. These may be lighter but also deeper conversations. She likes to talk about life and everyday things. She also likes it when she can vent some tensions with her buddy. Likewise, she wants to be a listening ear for her buddy and she likes to hear what her buddy is experiencing or has to say. Her buddy should not have a backpack that is too heavy, she will then take it home. The woman wants a non-smoking buddy. Someone who is not very dominant, but is calmly present. And who has verbal skills and can take initiative. It is important to her that you see each other as equals. And that you can communicate well with each other. She is available on Mondays. Are you interested in becoming her buddy? Read below how that works. As a volunteer with the Roads Buddy project, we pair you with a regular participant: your buddy. We connect the participant and the volunteer based on, among other things, common interests. The function of this buddy contact is to break through or prevent social isolation for a participant with a psychological vulnerability by going out together. As a volunteer you provide distraction and a bit of fun.It is important that you are prepared to meet with your buddy once every fortnight for one year (longer is possible). Furthermore, you are prepared to enter into the encounter 'openly', without wanting to change the other person. That sometimes requires adaptability.Working hours:During the day or in the evening, during the week or at the weekend: all possible. When and where you meet each other, you always decide in mutual consultation with your buddy.Intake procedure:Contact person Roads Maatjesproject: Jorise (Mon, Wed, Thu). Please feel free to contact us for an introductory meeting.
